The Party is Here

WORD: An Anthology by A Gathering of the Tribes

Book Release Party for Word: An Anthology

Steve Cannon has been the engine behind A Gathering of the Tribes the magazine, gallery, performance series, community gathering that is Tribes, for decades. Word, An Anthology is a collection of works by some of the cast of characters who passed through and left something while they were there. It would probably be impossible to include everyone, but I am happy to say that I have a few of my note poems in there. I haven’t laid my hands on it or even seen the cover yet, but I can’t wait to read through every page.

I wish that I could be there for this event, which would be nostalgic for me if I did go. If you’re in the NYC area on April Fool’s day, please get to this HOWL!  Happening in Loisaida, a reading and book release party. While you’re there say hello to everyone for me and tell them I sent you!

Boedicea was Bad

On Tuesday October 27 from 5-7pm I’ll be in Spartanburg, SC at the Hub City Bookshop to share some stories and poetry from Dreamscape, Real Dreams Really Make a Difference. If you’re in the area please come by and share a little of your time with me.

Here’s a little clip from a poem story about Queen Boedicea that I performed live on WBAI Radio with Bobby Vidal on upright bass back in the nineties in New York City. The animation is by my daughter Crystal Clear Waters.

Poetry in Leopard Forest

Every second Friday of the month, the Leopard Forest Cafe in Travelers Rest, SC, hosts a poetry open mic that follows a reading by a guest poet. I went a couple months ago, the first open mic I attended since moving to Greenville, and was invited to return as the guest poet on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7pm, by the nice folks at Trillium Arts Center in Travelers Rest, who host the monthly series.

I’m looking forward to sharing poetry with my new neighbors and getting to know the poets and poetry lovers where I now live. Please join me, and bring some of your poetry for the open mic afterwards. They sell some great coffee too! I buy it by the pound to make at home.
